Emerson awarded the prestigious Maharashtra IT Award

Mumbai, August 20, 2004- Emerson Network Power (India) {ENPI} today received the Maharashtra IT Award in the IT Hardware category for 2003 – 04. The award, aimed to recognize and honor remarkable performances by meritorious IT enterprises was bestowed by Shri Vijaysinha Mohite Patil, Hon. Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra on the occasion of the 2nd Maharashtra Information Technology Day 2004 Awards Ceremony held in Mumbai.

Emerson bagged the award on the basis of innovation and performance in the financial years 2001-2004. Having consistently emerged as a leader in power supply across products within the company’s Enterprise Network Uptime Solutions, the different solutions offered by ENPI range from UPS, Precision AC’s, DC Power systems, and automatic transfer switches.

Receiving the award Mr. Sandeep Nair, MD, Emerson Network Power (India) said, “The Maharashtra IT Award is recognition of our commitment towards manufacturing of high technology IT products in Maharashtra, India. This award also recognizes the focus of the State Government to promote manufacturing & investment in the Maharashtra state. The ‘IT Policy 2003’ has been welcomed by the industry as it addresses the key concerns & issues affecting the cost competitiveness, sourcing, manufacturing etc. We have been heard by the Maharashtra Govt and look forward to continued support from the Government for us to stay competitive & for the state to attract more investments. The next step is to make Maharashtra become a globally competitive state."

Commenting on the occasion Shri Vijaysinha Mohite Patil, Hon. Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra said, “The award aims to encourage enterprises in the State by recognizing their efforts & initiatives in IT.  These companies have contributed a lot in terms of IT investments, local skill set development, employment, infrastructure etc.”

The Maharashtra IT Awards have been instituted to reinforce the State Government’s commitment to the IT industry in the state.  The awards aim to promote entrepreneurship in the IT Industry in the State, recognize and appreciate performance in IT activities, encourage rapid spread of use of IT in society and facilitate the use of IT as a means of creating employment opportunities. The awards are spread across different categories such as IT Hardware, IT Software, IT Enabled Services (ITES), IT Human Resource Development, IT Infrastructure and R&D. Currently in its second year , August 20 is celebrated as Maharashtra IT Day.
