Mumbai, March 31, 2004: VSNL, a customer of Emerson Network Power India Pvt. Ltd. has been recognized as the best Network Critical Physical Infrastructure (NCPI) facility in the country. Receiving the APC Optimal Network Critical Physical Infrastructure (NCPI) Award 2004 for its data center facilities in Mumbai (Prabhadevi, Vashi) and Chennai, VSNL was felicitated at the recently concluded Network Computing CTO Forum. The award, acknowledges best practices and excellence in implementing a fail proof network.

APC in conjunction with Network Computing administered the Vulnerability Assessment test to a self nominated list of organizations with data centers or server rooms. Parameters that the organizations were graded on included power supply, power distribution, cooling, IT racks housing servers, switches, security that together create an uptime or 24x&7 availability quotient.

Receiving the award, Mr. Hari Nair, Sr. Manager, VSNL said, “At VSNL, we are continually guided by our customers’ demands. Being accessible to them 24x7 requires that we work hard at creating a network that roots out downtime. About the APC-Optimal Network –Critical Physical Infrastructure Award 2004:
In association with Network Computing, APC instituted an award to recognise best practices and excellence in implementing Optimal Network-Critical Physical Infrastructure. The nomination and assessment procedure which lasted a month gathered data against specific parameters, and amidst detailed discussions with data center managers or heads of IT. This data was then analyzed to arrive at the availability or uptime level of the NCPI. The winner was decided by an independent jury comprising experts drawn from both the industry and academia.
