Appoints Ravi Badwal as Vice
President to spearhead the telecom
business

Power (India) Pvt Ltd. today announced
its plan to strengthen the company’s
focus on the telecom sector with
the appointment of Ravi Badwal
as Vice President - Telecom Business.
In his role, Ravi will be responsible
in driving the growth of the telecom
vertical within Emerson by leveraging
the business potential in the
sector.
Prior to Emerson, Ravi was part
of the Board of Directors at Supreme
Telecommunications Ltd. where
he headed the overall business
operations and helped the company
develop a Pan-Indian footprint.
During his tenure, Supreme Telecommunications
emerged as a market leader in
the telecom engineering and infrastructure
space.
Currently, the telecom market
is growing exponentially in India.
The wireless telecom business
has witnessed a phenomenal growth
in past 4-5 years. Teledensity,
that was 2.8% in the year 2000
and 8% in 2004, is expected to
reach 18% by end of 2008. Market
research firm Gartner Inc. forecasts
that India will spend 739 billion
rupees ($16.34 billion) on telecom
services and equipment in 2006,
up 27.3% from 2005.
The telecom vertical currently
contributes a significant amount
to Emerson’s overall revenues
and the company expects this to
grow further in future.
